Social vs. Solitary Learning Styles

All learners have different needs; some work best with plenty of guidance and direct instructions, while others thrive independently and discover information for themselves. Here at UniCourse, we want to stress that our learners can fully dictate their relationship with their allocated course tutor, which can be as often or as little as required.

Social learners enjoy frequent communication and receiving advice from others and therefore like to spend much one-on-one time with their tutors. In contrast, solitary learners are self-motivated, enjoy working independently, and learn best when working alone.

When deciding whether to study with us, many potential learners are hesitant towards the concept of online learning, as they worry that they will not receive the adequate support that they would in a physical college. We want to reassure you that this is not the case; despite our courses being independent, as our learners dictate the pace of their studies, our tutors are always on hand to answer any questions you may have. They are available seven days a week for our learners to contact through emails, phone calls, and one-to-one videos, and they aim to mark assignments within 48 hours of submission.

Nigel, a current ILM student of ours, has expressed that our “marking feedback is very accurate and concise, and clearly shows areas for improvement” as well as describing our support as being very “personalised” to suit every individual learner’s needs. We also regularly invite learners to join our live virtual-teaching classes to experience face-to-face contact with their course tutor and other learners.

However, if you are someone who favours an autonomous learning style and would prefer limited communication with their tutor, UniCourse also welcomes this. You are free to complete your studies in your own time with no exams or set deadlines and will not be chased up by our tutors if you have temporarily put your studies on hold.
