Mike Lopez

CEO and Engineering Tutor

Michael created UniCourse back in March 2014, whilst teaching HNC/D engineering learners in north west colleges. A specialist in engineering mathematics and circuits, he pioneered Bluetooth circuitry as a designer at the turn of the millennium. He is still one of our very active full-time teachers, as well as being CEO.

Dr Mike Shaw

Head Electrical & Electronic Engineering Tutor/ Director

Mike has over 32 years experience in the higher education sector, carrying out teaching and research in Electrical and Electronic Engineering. He also has experience in the teaching of engineering mathematics at university levels.

A Chartered Engineer and Fellow of the Institution of Engineering & Technology, he is an active participant in the activities of the IET and a member of their Academic Accreditation Panel.

Geraint Phylip-Jones

Head Mechanical Engineering Tutor

Geraint has over 20 years experience in higher education, teaching Thermodynamics, Marine Engineering and Fluid Mechanics. Prior to entering higher education he had 23 years industrial experience designing propulsion and power generation plants.

Geraint is Chartered Engineer and Member of the Institution of Marine Engineering, Science & Technology, where he is an active member of the NW England branch.

Geoff Radivan

Geoff is a fully qualified tutor with over 30 years teaching experience in both further and higher education. In recent years, Geoff developed virtual learning programs for BTEC/HNC Electrical/Electronic engineering programs.

Kevin is one of our Business tutors who works with learners completing their BTEC and ILM courses. He has a BA (Hons.) in Business Management and Information, and, since graduating has worked in a number of Marketing, Finance, IT, Administrative and Public Sector roles.

Mohammed Hoq

Engineering Consultant

Mohammed has over 20 years experience in educational leadership & management, curriculum development, teaching, learning & assessment, in the field of aeronautical engineering in the UK and abroad. He is a senior external verifier for Pearson Edexcel BTEC programmes and ensures that UniCourse provides the highest quality delivery and assessment to our learners.

Qualified and Highly Experienced in the UK and abroad as an IQA and EQA

He has an approved Form-4 from EASA (European Aviation Safety Agency) as an Examination Manager and International ‘Train the Trainer’ qualified.

Rodrigo Fabaro

Engineering Team Leader

Rodrigo has BEng (Hons) in Computer Engineering and specialises in mathematics, circuits, and software systems. He is also responsible for developing our Virtual Learning Environment Platform (Moodle) and providing technical support.

Jen Proctor

Principal

Jen has over 16 years’ experience in management. She joined the UniCourse family in 2016 and is the Principal for all Higher National qualifications, and ILM distance learning courses. Her duties cover all aspects of internal and external operations, as well as being our head Business and Leadership & Management tutor.

Dr Andrew Spiteri

Engineering Tutor

Andrew has a PhD in Marine Engineering from Liverpool John Moores University focusing on technologies for maritime decarbonisation. Currently, Andrew sits on the RINA NW branch as the chairman. Andrews initial background is in materials and manufacturing engineering where he worked with Trelleborg Sealing Solutions in Malta developing coatings for rubber elastomers. Furthermore, Andrew has worked in different industries such vehicle electrification, offshore and onshore wind energy production and decommissioning of offshore structures.

Dr Stephen Symes

Engineering Tutor

Steve has over 15 years experience in the higher education sector, carrying out teaching and research in Maritime Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Neuroscience and Cyber Security. He also has experience in the teaching of aerospace engineering, neuroscience, mathematics and computer security at university and military college levels.

Steve studied at the University of Chester, The University of Liverpool and Liverpool John Moores University where he obtained a BA in Finance, A BEng in Aerospace Engineering and Piloting studies, an MEng in Maritime Engineering and a PhD in Maritime Engineering with Human Factors Neuroscience.

A Chartered Engineer and Fellow of the Institute of Physics, the Institute of Mechanical Engineers and the institute of Marine Engineering, Science and Technology, he is an active participant in the activities of the IoP, IMechE and IMarEST and a delivers lectures and talks for the aforementioned institutions regularly.

Sarah Carter

HR and Administration Director

Sarah is our HR and Administration Director, who manages our Administration systems and processes, student admissions, and our B2B client account management. She is the first point of contact for all our major blue chip clients, always ensuring a great customer experience and smooth running of the company operations.

Sarah is also chair of our Human Resources committee, managing all company logistics, from Recruitment to employee relations, staff training and development, HR Policies and Procedures.

Samantha Robinson

Finance Director

Samantha is our finance director, who manages our accounts systems and processes, as well as financial planning and forecasting, budget management, and data analytics.
She also provides business support throughout several departments, including Administration, Sales and Quality assurance.

Samantha leads our ExpertNotes sector of the business, providing B2B client management with Universities and Colleges around the globe.

Connie is a member of our busy student support team, providing support for all matters relating to programme admissions and administration. She looks after our student records for compliance and audit purposes, student discount schemes, and provides a range of data to meet ad hoc needs. Connie provides student support throughout the learner journey, from set up to the end of your course.
