If you’re interested in studying a HNC or HND course, you should be aware of significant updates taking effect in 2024 that may affect your course selection and learning experience.
Changes Starting September 2024
From September 2024, UniCourse will no longer accept HND registrations from HNC learners who were previously enrolled under the old RQF framework, without undergoing Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL). Furthermore, these learners will need to complete additional HNC coursework, covering new learning outcomes not included in the previous RQF framework.
Reason for the Change
Pearson, the awarding body for our HNC and HND engineering courses, implements framework changes every seven years. These changes are vital to keep the curriculum up-to-date and in line with current education standards. The next round of changes is scheduled to be implemented in September 2024.
Navigating These Changes
We are committed to making this transition as smooth as possible for our learners. To avoid the need for RPL and extra HNC coursework, we present two options:
Recommended choice – Enrol onto the Combined HNC/HND
Our recommended choice is to enrol onto the combined HNC/HND course before August 2024. To make this option more accessible, we have reduced the cost of our combined engineering courses by £250. Additionally, we’ve also introduced a new, more affordable monthly payment plan for the combined engineering courses, allowing you to pay £164 per month over 36 months. This adjustment could save you up to £1,400 in course fees.
Option 2 – Complete Your HNC by July 2024:
Alternatively, if you’re already studying an HNC or plan to start one soon, you can complete your HNC by July 2024. This will allow you to complete your course under the existing framework. Afterwards, you can enrol separately onto an HND before the end of August 2024, ensuring a smooth transition into the new framework without the need for RPL.
