Enhanced Learning Credits

What is ELCAS?
The ELC (Enhanced Learning Credits) Scheme was introduced by the MOD (Ministry of Defence), and is designed to promote lifelong learning amongst Service Personnel and Service Leavers, in the form of funding for courses approved by ELCAS. Enhanced learning credits (ELC) can be used for up to 80% of a course; you need only finance the balance of 20%.

Who is eligible?
Serving personnel, service leavers, and those no longer in service within The Royal Navy (and Royal Marines), The Royal Air Force and The British Army.

The MOD/ELCAS allow you to use 2 separate years of funding in the case that you wish to enrol onto one of these.

How does it work?

1) Log in to your ELCAS account, provided by your appropriate MOD authorising personnel, and you can search for UniCourse and our available courses through Serving Personnel> Searching for a Learning Provider/Course.

2) Head to Serving Personnel > Claiming ELC on the website and submit a Claim Form; you must do this a minimum of 25 working days prior to your course start date. Please note that on Step 6 of the Claim Wizard you must provide further information on any fee reductions you are entitled to (if you have an HNC and therefore your HND fees should be reduced, or if you wish to go for a shorter registration period as we offer on our HN Engineering courses)

3) You will then receive a Claim Authorisation Note (CAN) from ELCAS detailing your funding allowance as well as your individual contribution amount. You must make a personal contribution of at least 20% from your own resources towards the total course cost.

4) Complete a UniCourse Application Form on our website, and attach a copy of your CAN to this. Please ensure that your preferred start date listed on the form reflects the 25 working days policy stated above.
